- Chosen by Voters Consider that Portugal and Romania are over 2500 miles (4000 km) away from eachother and that there are at least 9 other countries in between the two. If you add the three Scandinavian places, plus Ireland and England, your trip would take you to over a dozen countries.What I want to point out is: Travelling takes time, and I'm not sure how keen you are on spending half of your time in Europe in a train.
