Take about $50 euros with you and use your ATM while you're ther for the best exchange rate.

- Chosen by Voters Porto, for sure!In Porto you have lots and lots of monuments, culture, bars, clubs, and also good beaches. And the people from Porto are much more warm and are nicer. The downtown is very beautiful, and the Douro river also. You must see Aliados (Avenue), Clérigos (Tower), Casa da Música (Music House), São Bento Station (Trains), Bolhão (Market), the Port Wine cellars in Gaia, Foz,…The nightlife is very good at the downtown (near Praça dos Leões, or Lions square), there you have good bars (Piolho, Galerias de Paris) and clubs (Twins, Gare). Also have good bars at Foz (Molhe). But the best clubs are at the Industrial zone, there you have clubs such has Act, Vogue, … And at Matosinhos you also have Estado Novo, one of my favorite club. The best beaches near Porto are in Leça (you can go by Metro or Bus) and in Gaia (I think you can go by bus). Source(s): I live in Porto, and i'm sure you will like it. If you want some good sites or infos get in contact with me 2 years ago 100% 1 Vote 2 people rated this as good

- Chosen by Voters I have been in Stockholm, Sweden, several times right around Christmas and New Year and just loved it. The city is beautiful any time of the year, but at Christmas, especially if there's been a good Swedish snowfall, it is positively enchanting. Of course, the sun sets earlier that time of the year (it's dark by 3 p.m.) but I think that just added to the charm. I spent a wonderful day just hanging out with a friend in Skansen, the hillside architectural preserve. Walking the snowy paths by lamplight was beautiful. It started snowing, which just enhanced its beauty. The Gamlastan (Old Town) is enchanting, especially with its Christmas decorations. Be sure to catch the Changing of the Guard at the Royal palace. if it's a changing of a regiment, it is even more impressive. After the last one I saw, the regimental band stuck around in the outer courtyard after the pomp and circumstance, and did a concert of swing music! People started dancing on the cobbles. Other things: the "Wasa" Museum is awesome. It's a 17th-century warship that sank in Stockholm Harbour on its maiden voyage and was brought up more than 90 percent intact several centuries later. Tour the City Hall and see the dazzling golden hall where the Nobel Prize Ball is held, and learn how they determined the proportions of the grand staircase up to it. (It has to do with the architect's wife in formal evening attire!) Shopping on the main commercial street is excellent. Åhlens and NK department stores are fabulous. Outside of town, do see Drottningholmslot, the royal country residence, which is a lavish Versailles-wannabe. There is also an old, historic theatre on the grounds. The ancient mechanical effects equipment still works and is demonstrated during the tour. You will love Stockholm!PS: Thank your husband for his service to our country and you for your support of his work for us! 1 year ago 50% 2 Votes

- Chosen by Voters There is not a lot of info online sourced from reliable info (such as Portugese Ministry sites). Yes there is Wikipedia, but this is not sourced and sketchy to say the least.Bear in mind it will cost a fair bit of money to obtain a Portugese passport and also time and administration as well. However if you are interested then it is best to contact the Portuguese Consolate in the US and they will be able to confirm if you have a claim, how much it will cost in money & time, and the procedure to do so. You can find the contact details here http://www.portugal.com/information/emba…However also take into account that as an American citizen, you are already free to travel to European countries such as the UK, France & Portugal already just using your US passport.Under the Visa Waiver Program, an American can stay in the Schengen zone countries of Europe for up to total of 90 days (out of 180) and then in the UK you can stay up to 6 months. So this gives you 9 months worth of travelling (and techinically if you travel in the Schengen zone for the 3 months and then to the UK you are eligable to return to the Schengen zone for a further 3 months again). All of this is without needing a visa – just your passport and proof that you can fund the period of travel. Therefore you might want to consider that unless you want to work within the EEA countries that an American passport gives you enough time to travel as it is without going to the expense and hassle of getting a Portuguese passport. If you do want to work, then it is much more valuableHope this helps anyway 2 years ago 57% 4 Votes 2 people rated this as good

- Chosen by Voters Where are you from? You may have a basic problem with this since Portugal, Greece and Italy are all part of the Schengen zone and you may only be able to stay in for 90 days in any 6 month period. This requirement does not give you up to 90 days in each country; it's 90 days for the entire Schengen treaty area. There is no long term visa for tourism like this. Depending on where you're from, you may need a visa to visit for up to 90 days. See the Italian visa site, for example, for requirements: http://www.esteri.it/visti/home_eng.asp . Next, February is not a bad time to visit here in Italy. Carnevale will be running in many places then including Venice, Ivrea, Cento, and Viareggio. There's also the Verona in Love festival and other events around Valentine's Day and all the usual attractions are open. It can be cold, but it's far from unattractive or lifeless in the winter. November is usually pretty nice and there are some interesting festivals like the truffle festivals in Alba and San Miniato. In December, there are a lot of good Christmas markets, and exhibitions in the various cities that can only be seen then. 2 years ago 100% 1 Vote 11 people rated this as good

- Chosen by Voters Presuming you hold an American passport your travel plans will work fine as long as you plan to stay in Ireland, England, and Morocco for longer than 2 weeks. All other countries you name are either members of the Schengen territory or are associated with it and tourists may only stay for up to 90 days within a six months period without a visa in the entire Schengen zone. You DO NOT need a Schengen visa as U.S. passport holder.http://dc.the-netherlands.org/Services/C… ..When you enter Germany you will pass through immigration and a Schengen entry stamp will be affixed to your passport showing the date of entry. You then have a total of 90 days you can stay. Flights between the Schengen countries are like domestic flights. You only show your passport at check-in/security check; no government immigration. You only will face the next immigration control when you leave the Schengen zone to a country outside of Schengen (England, Ireland, Morocco). An exit stamp will be affixed to your passport. On re-entry to the Schengen zone the clock is not reset, but you may continue to stay if your 90 days have not been used up totally when you left..http://ec.europa.eu/justice_home/fsj/fre… ..For Morocco you can read the passport holders of the 'Etats Unis d'Amérique' [United States of America] do not need a visa for up to 90 days.http://www.maec.gov.ma/en/default.html ..The same applies to Ireland:http://foreignaffairs.gov.ie/home/index.… ..The United Kingdom grants visa exempted tourists to stay for up to 6 months, you will need to fill a landing card with your passport and address details.http://bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/travellingt… .. 1 year ago 38% 3 Votes 1 person rated this as good
